Using Xbox 360 console (Offline)
A lot of Xbox data can be backed up to a USB drive or any other storage. You will need this drive to recover your gamertag and all other data that is linked with it. Make sure you use a storage drive that is compatible with your 360 console or one that you have used before with your console. Additionally it would help if the data is copied somewhere else too. A lot of USB drives need formatting on first use so your console is able to read the data on the drive.
Once this is taken care of, follow the steps below to recover your Xbox Gamertag.
- Plug in your USB drive or your storage device into your Xbox console.
- Visit the ‘System Settings’ section and select the ‘Memory Unit’ you have plugged into your console.
- Once you have accessed the Memory Unit, select the Game Profile Folders.
- Select the profile you want to move, and the drive you want to move it to. Once you have done this, you should be able to load your preferred profile from your storage drive.
Ensure you do not turn off your console through the entire process or the gamertag recovery will fail and you will have to start all over again. Worse yet, you may even lose your data. So ensure your console is not turned off during this process.
